ART Bus
On view in the ART ON THE ART BUS is the artwork of Julia Christensen,an artist and writer based in northeastern Ohio. Through her work, Christensen investigates the intersections of landscape, culture and consumerism. She works across mediums in her art pieces, often combining photography, video, sound and writing. For the ART ON THE ART BUS, Christensen poses questions about possible future uses for vacant buildings in our midst.
The ART ON THE ART BUS program is an example of how Artisphere is
building community through artistic outreach in Arlington. The mobile
gallery, created and curated by Artipshere’s Visual Arts Curator Cynthia
Connolly, shows original art on an Arlington Rapid Transit—or
ART—public bus, cultivating a vibrant arts experience for transit riders
in the area. Two ART Buses are in permanent rotation throughout the
different routes available to ART Bus passengers. The ART ON THE ART BUS
program is supported in part by Arlington Transit.
Christensen's work will be on view at Artisphere, Friday, August 24 – Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Beyond the Parking Lot: The Change and Re-assessment of our Modern Landscape.
