DJ and producer Camilo Lara,an Indie Music Award winner, is the one man dynamo behind the electronic music project, the Mexican Institute of Sound. M.I.S is part of a growing Mexican electronic movement, mixing mariachi and cumbia with hip-hop, rock and thunderous beats—all with just his computer, his imagination, and his collection of more than 45,000 vinyl albums. With critical acclaim in publications like Spin and Rolling Stone, M.I.S’s Indie Music Award winning third release, Soy Sauce, was recorded with a live band and vocals and is being hailed for pushing eclecticism to a new level. Please note that M.I.S. will be performing in the Ballroom. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8pm. The Ballroom has limited general admission seating but is largely standing room only.
This is one of a number of complementary programs celebrating the Frida Kahlo: Her Photos exhibit at Artisphere. Learn more about the exhibit.
